Centre for Social Inquiry

Mission Statement

Social Inquiry integrates the academic disciplines of social sciences with the professional practices of research, advocacy, policy and communication. The Centre will develop and promote the application of social inquiry knowledge to issues of social change with local, national and global communities.

Objectives

The objectives of the UTS Centre for Social Inquiry are to:

  • Critically investigate research, policy and advocacy through social, political and historical frameworks;
  • Explore research, advocacy, analyses and communication praxis in a spectrum of contexts, from the local to the global;
  • Build self reflexive learning, research and social advocacy skills with students, staff project partners and researchers through collaborative involvement in Centre projects;
  • Create goodwill and productive networks with relevant bodies through their involvements in Centre projects;
  • Engage in discussions and research on ethical and socially responsible practices in all our teaching and research areas;
  • Identify and pursue innovation in professional practice in research, advocacy, communication and policy development;
  • Explore processes of teaching and learning relevant to professional practices of research, advocacy, policy and communication.
