Sprocket - Make, view and analyse films
Sprocket is THE film club of UTS. Sprocket has recently been established to encourage people from all walks of life to broaden exposure to films and to participate in the film making process. The Club plans to make, view and analyse films on an ongoing basis, year round. We make films for short film festivals, whilst also hosting our own events that aim to support emerging artists. We wish to create a strong network of both students and the general public that can work together in teams to write and produce creative works. Sprocket is launching films outside the classroom, through the support of both amateur and professional artists. Sprocket has something to offer everyone, whether you are interested in film, publications or simply meeting new people, we encourage everyone to join.
Dis_orientation - perform, show and view sound and new media
Disorientation is a monthly live audiovisual performance night in Sydney which has been running for just over two years. Broadly concentrating on experimental and electronic music, as well as elements of performance art and experimental film, the event aims to present challenging new work to as wide an audience as possible. Organised by the UTS Sound Collective, the event also makes it a priority to showcase young and emerging artists every month alongside more experienced and well known performers. Originally held at Lanfranchis Memorial Discotheque in Chippendale the night has recently moved to the Abercrombie Hotel on Broadway.
MAP Alumni
The Media Arts and Production (MAP) Network allows MAP graduates (including BA Communication, Film and Video graduates) to keep abreast of current developments in their area. The monthly newsletter MAPNews includes information on events, seminars, job opportunities and continuing professional education.
