11th Golden Eye Awards 21 October 2009

The UTS Golden Eye Awards 2009 will be held this year on the night of Wednesday 21st of October. This multi award winning and prize-giving event is a festival celebrating some of the best work from Media Arts and Production students in the past two years. Fantastic prizes which will contribute to the continued creative production of the students are awarded to the winners. This will be the 11th time we have held this biennial event in the past 20 years.

Call for entries for the 11th UTS Golden Eye Awards

Eligibility

Any Media Arts and Production (undergrad or postgrad) or Master of Animation student may enter any soundwork, new media work or film/video project but it must:

  • have been completed since the last Golden Eye Awards entry deadline of 3 August 2007; and
  • made for assessment in a MAP subject by a student enrolled in a MAP course or made as a work for the Masters in Animation

Entry requirements

Preview tapes of film / video works must be mini DV or DVCam or as URL or DVD for New Media or CD for Sound works. All entries must include a completed Entry form (pdf, 38kb). This form is also available from the MAP noticeboard on Level 3 of Bon Marche.

Entry deadline: 6 August 2009 at 5pm

Selection criteria

The key selection criteria are:

  • quality of ideas
  • originality of style and approach
  • interest of content; and
  • professional standard of work

Categories

The award category(s) for each entry will be decided by the selection panel which will consist of one full-time MAP lecturer, and two students.

Categories include Outstanding Achievement in the following areas:

  • New Media Work
  • New Media Design
  • Film/Video
  • Drama
  • Documentary
  • Experimental
  • Direction
  • Stand Alone Sound Work
  • Soundtrack/ Sound Design
  • Cinematography
  • Editing; and
  • Script

There will also be an audience vote for most popular project.

Note: You do not need to nominate a category but you can if you like.
