What are the Golden Eye Awards? The UTS Golden Eye Awards is a biennial showcase of outstanding creative works produced by students and recent graduates of the highly respected UTS Media Arts and Production Program. The event also celebrates our industry partnerships in the areas of film, video and new media, with industry sponsors donating over $20,000 worth of cash and in-kind prizes at each event. These prizes contribute to the continued creative production of the winners and provide valuable exposure and networking opportunities.
The UTS Golden Eye Awards have been a springboard to success for many students and graduates over the years. For example, Jenia Ratcliffe's The Stone Thrower was highly commended in the 2004 Dendy Awards, following winning the People's Choice Award at the 8th UTS Golden Eye Awards in 2003 and Bettina Frankham's Out of Fear was highly commended in the Best Documentary category of 2004 Flickerfest, after winning two categories in the 2003 Golden Eye Awards. The Stone Thrower was also screened as part of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, Melbourne Underground Film Festival, Reel Venus Film Festival in New York (USA), Commonwealth Film Festival in Newcastle (UK)and was the winner at Squatfest in 2004. Out of Fear was also screened at the 2004 Stuttgart Filmwinter Festival for Expanded Media. Judges for the 2005 Awards
