About CSAA

 

The Cultural Studies Association of Australasia represents cultural studies practioners in Australia, New Zealand and the region. Among other activities, the CSAA publishes this extensive website, organises an annual conference, and advocates for the field of cultural Studies nationally and internationally.

Association Objectives

  • To promote and coordinate the teaching, study and research relating to cultural studies in Australasia including but not limited to activities such as:
  1. To develop cultural studies in Australasia
  2. To carry out research relating to cultural studies
  3. To provide a data base and a network of information on cultural studies
  4. To make submissions to governments and other bodies with respect to cultural studies
  5. To research, advise and report on curriculum issues with respect to the teaching of cultural studies
  6. To encourage and support students in cultural studies
  7. To provide advice to educational institutions and governments relating to cultural studies
  8. To hold cultural studies conferences
  9. To apply for, receive and administer any grants, bequests, endowments or loans from the State or Commonwealth governments or from any other source
  10. To attract, encourage and solicit donations and gifts to or for the benefit of the Association from any source deemed appropriate to the promotion of the objectives of the Association
  • To be a national voice on cultural issues
  • To promote links with other international cultural studies organisations and associations overseas
  • To employ any person or persons on such terms and conditions as may be agreed to carry out the purposes of the Association
  • To do all things necessary and expedient for the proper, full and effectual carrying out of all of the objects of the Association.
